Wage War - ALIVE (BLUEPRINTS) review

Alive has come out with a heavy, bold song that aims to diminish the negative connotation associated with today's younger generation. With a simplistic video depicting a thrashing performance of this song by Alive, the primary focus is placed on the intensity and significance of this song. "Wage War" expresses nothing but total adamancy on showcasing the potential this current generation has, despite whatever poor reputation that has been constructed by society. These lyrics inspire action, hope, and change. Whatever is to come of the future, is entirely in the hands of our youth. Instead of self-fulfilling a prophecy of failure, today's generation can shape a more progressive, all-around better, future. Despite any demeaning ideas (such as being "troubled" and "condemned") of the youth of today, they have the power. The instrumentals of this song are as heavy as the words that they carry. Filled with intricacy and dynamic tempos, this song changes with the progression of the lyrics, adding emphasis to the message being sent.

Alobo Naga & The Band

Alobo Naga and The Band is a popular pop star from the vibrant hill state with rich music scenario Nagaland.Alobo started expressing his passion for music at the tender age of 5 and by the age of 12 years he began performing his original compositions.
During his formative years he was part of the band ‘Nice and Ugly’ as well as ‘Spark’ enthralling audiences both at home and outside. In 2003 he was adjudged as the best vocalist and best performer in a musical contest ‘Summer Jam 2003’.
Alobo Naga also holds degrees in music from reputed institutes like Hope Centre of Excellence, Nagaland and Trinity Music School.
Constantly innovating with his music, Alobo during the summer of July 2010 thought of making a rock band that have the capability to produce unique sound from other rock bands in India and can stand apart from others in terms of composition and lyrics.
The major breakthrough of the band came in 2011 when they were offered to compose the official track of Guwahati International Short Film Festival and it was followed by the shoot of official music video. The song composed by the band is ‘Painted Dreams’ and the music video was shot by Creovaent Production, Guwahati. Luckily for the band, it got an endorsement deal with premium Vodka Company in the region Spirit. It encouraged the band to come with their first Extended Play (EP) ‘Painted Dreams’ with the help of the record label U.M (Unicornis Movement) Pro Records – North-East India’s First Independent Record Label.
The music video ‘Painted Dreams’ that is made by Creovaent Productions is currently being played at VH1 with its achievement that the video & song ‘Painted Dreams’ went among Top 4 bands video ranking in VH1 International Top 10 of the week.

Alia Tempora - DIGITAL CUBE Album

Alia Tempora's album DIGITAL CUBE is their debut offering to the masses, and as the title may suggest to some of you does have electro influences, although by and large a Metal album. And it is a very good record from this band that ply their trade from the Czech Republic. Fronted by the attractive and angelic vocals of Marketa Morakova, who reminds me a little of Liv Kristine in the vocals department, there is some catchy and melodic music to be found on this 12 track CD.
The opening trio of 'Connected', 'Digital Cube' and 'Frozen' set the benchmark for this magical piece of work. The pace drops slightly on the track 'Far and Forgotten', but generally, this album is tunefully up tempo, with the highlight for me being the Symphonic version of the number 'Mockingjay', that does feature the talents of Timo Somers from Delain - this being an alternative version of the track that appears earlier in the album. Alia Tempora I understand call this New Age Metal, but whatever you call it, it is very good - Metal with a dose of electro!

August Burns Red is wrapping up their year with some of the biggest news they have received in their career: a Grammy nomination. Their song “Identity” off of Found in Far Away Places is nominated for best metal performance alongside Ghost, Lamb of God, Sevendust and Slipknot.

While the award committee typically gives the prize to the most commercial friendly nomination (remember when Macklemore beat out Kendrick Lamar two years ago?), it’s still exciting to see August Burns Red hit one of the highest achievements in modern music. Best of luck, guys.

[Fearless Records]

Ghost – “Cirice”
[Loma Vista Recordings]

RAVEN SKY…’ONCE ABOVE THE OLD SKIES’ Review

Raven Sky is a metal band of five childhood friends, who draw a musical landscape from powerful and symphonic melodies as well as heavy and rhythmic elements of modern metal music. The band was born in 1996 in Hausjärvi, Southern Finland – was deceased in 2005 and reanimated for a weekend in 2011 and has remained undead ever since. The heaviness of the band’s music is mostly based on the oppressiveness of the guitar riffs, various rhythmic elements and metallic singing (mainly of the more deathy variety) – as well as powerful and voluminous orchestrated melodies coupled at times with a choral back drop. And this is well showcased within the eleven tracks here, that offer up some powerful, melodic and bombastic music. You won’t find any soppy ballads here with favourite tracks including ’Reroll’ and ‘6 Years of Silence’. Raven Sky is comprised of Tomi Aaltonen (bass), Oskari Kettinen (vocals, keyboards), Esa Mäkinen (guitar), Atte Tahvanainen (drums), Ville Virtanen (guitar).
